What to know before going

Pier 6 is the most straightforward Brooklyn Bridge Park playground choice when kids are the center of the outing. Slide Mountain, Sandbox Village, Swing Valley, and Water Lab sit close enough that families can move between different kinds of play without crossing the whole park.

The layout is helpful for mixed-age kids. One child can climb and slide while another digs in sand, swings, or heads toward water play. The tradeoff is that Pier 6 can be very busy when the weather is good.

Food and restrooms nearby make Pier 6 easier than many destination playgrounds, but the water and sand can turn a quick visit into a messy one. Bring the extra layer, towel, or shoes you will wish you had later.
